Okay, so here's giveaway #1.
When the farm's Facebook page reaches 1,000 fans, I'm going to give away this beautiful Icelandic fleece:
It's an entire raw fleece, weighing 3 lbs. 5 oz. Retail value, $40. It came from this lovely spotted ewe named Mona, and is a mix of creamy white and chocolate brown wool.
The fleece is suitable for either felting or spinning. You can separate the two colors for a brown and white project, or blend them together for a more "heathered" shade. There's enough here to make an entire sweater, or other good-sized project.
To enter, all you have to do is comment on this blog post!
But remember, the giveaway happens once our farm's Facebook page reaches 1,000 fans (as of this writing we have just 74 more to go to get there). Help us reach our goal by forwarding this page to your friends and family, Tweeting about this giveaway, posting a link to this page on your own blog or Facebook wall, etc., and then the giveaway will happen sooner.
If you're not the "crafty" sort, don't worry, there's a giveaway for you too. I'm also giving away a handspun, hand knitted scarf in my next blog post.
One entry per person for each giveaway, but you can enter all three giveaways if you like:

Free Handspun Wool Scarf Giveaway
Free Sheep's Milk Soap Giveaway

Maybe a lovely Icelandic Fleece would inspire me to dust off the spinning wheel.
"Mona, Mona"....there is a James Taylor song with this title...but it's about a pet pig with an untimely end because she "got too big too eat"...and she "was a football at [her] Momma's side".....Nancy: you know I love all you farm stuff....I'd get this fleece and hire Laurie to spin it for me, and then maybe I'd learn to weave or crochet! love!
so many ideas so little time.. but I definitely would love to snag it :)
Great idea! Wonderful giveaway! I will post this on my facebook farm page!

I would Love to have that fleece, love the rich brown and white combo. I am looking at learning how to spin and I am a newbie weaver for a few years now, always learning something new. Would like to start raising Icelandic sheep and learn how to shear, and handle the fleece, spin and weave them into my own designs for rugs, etc. Truly excited!! Cyndi Howard
I wouldn't do anything with this beautiful fleece except run my hands through it. I bought a fleece for my daughter last spring and and by the time she got up to visit: she could tell it'd been well loved.
oooh, I've never spun icelandic before, but I'd love to.
Please pick me!!
Beautiful fleece! If I win, I will give it to my dear fried who's 3 year old son is battling cancer. She loves spinning as a calming hobby.

So pretty! I started spinning a couple years ago and got a wheel last spring. Once that happens you can never have enough fleece.
I am a novice spinner with an advanced friend. I am also very interested in potentially getting my own Icelandics.
We would really like to play around with a fleece, just getting started here!
I would love to try mixing it with my beautiful natural white Angora Goat's mohair. II think that could make a rich blend! I'm a small farmer too and I love inspiring others to join us however they can!
Wow, 1000 fans what a treat! What a beautiful fleece to be giving away! Thanks for having such wonderful contests. I hope someone will get a lot of use out of your great prizes.
